Just like the east coast donair sauce, we also have our donairs, this recipe is one I love to use alongside the donair sauce.

What you need

  • 3 lbs ground beef
  • 3/4 cup fine bread crumbs
  • 2 tsp ground pepper
  • 1-2 tsp cayenne
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 2 tsp dried oregano
  • 2 tsp spicy smoked paprika
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Fresh pita
  • chopped tomatoes
  • chopped onions
  • The Donair Sauce:
    • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
    • 1/3 cup white vinegar
    • 1 tsp garlic powder

How to make it.

  1. Place meat, seasonings and crumbs in a large bowl.
  2. Knead the mixture for several minutes, working all the air spaces out before modling into a loaf.
  3. Heat your oven to 300F
  4. Shape the meat into one tight loaf.
  5. Place on a baking sheet
  6. Bake for about 2 hours
  7. Cool completely before slicing
  8. Whisk together the condensed milk, vinegar and garlic powder to make your sauce.
  9. Slice the cooled loaf as thinly as possible.
  10. Load several slices of meat onto each pita.
  11. Top with tomato and onion.
  12. Drizzle liberally with the sauce
